Court Sports
In this subject, you will be immersed in the world of court-based sports, learning fundamental skills and game strategies for sports like basketball, netball, volleyball, and more. You will also develop an understanding of the cultural and historical significance of these sports, and explore the ethical issues that can arise within the sports industry. Additionally, you will examine the role of sports media in shaping public perception of sports and athletes, and learn about the application of sports analytics in modern sports. This subject provides a comprehensive understanding of court sports, both as a physical activity and as a cultural phenomenon.
Duke of Edinburgh
In Duke of Edinburgh, you will learn and develop important leadership skills, as well as gain knowledge on minimal impact practices, tent setup, cooking, and other essential team-building skills. Throughout the semester, you will be required to dedicate significant time to a recreational activity, community service, and skill development. You will also have the opportunity to enhance your understanding of outdoor environments through two practical trips at retreat and one other with your Duke of Edinburgh class. This subject provides an exciting opportunity for you to experience the outdoors and develop important life skills outside of the classroom. Note: Duke of Edinburgh is available to Year 3 (traditional Year 9) students only.

In this subject, you will advance your skills in AFL, soccer, Gaelic, and rugby codes. You will have the opportunity to develop and facilitate your own training leading up to match day performances. In addition to honing your skills, you will explore specific sports ethics and social issues that affect these sports. This includes topics such as women in football, social media, and the inclusion of minority groups, such as different ability groups. By the end of the course, you will be able to understand and navigate the complexities of these sports and their impact on society. (Students may choose only ONE of the Football Codes subjects.)

Health and Human Development - Units 1&2
In VCE Health and Human Development, you will learn about the broad concepts of health and wellbeing beyond the individual level. It explores the biological, sociocultural, and environmental factors that impact health and wellbeing, promoting health literacy and social equity. The study offers various pathways for further education and career opportunities, including health promotion and community health research. Unit 1 focuses on the diverse perspectives and definitions of health and wellbeing, investigating the factors that influence health attitudes and practices. Unit 2 explores the transitions from youth to adulthood, emphasising the management of health-related milestones and changes, and understanding the Australian healthcare system. You will develop health literacy skills through interpreting and analysing data.
Health and Human Development - Units 3&4
Unit 3 of VCE Health and Human Development explores health and wellbeing as a global concept, focusing on the fundamental conditions required for health improvement and evaluating successful health programs. Unit 4 examines health and wellbeing, human development, and health inequalities in a global context, including factors contributing to disparities and global trends like climate change and digital technologies. You will analyse global action to improve health through the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, World Health Organization, and Australia's overseas aid program. You will learn to evaluate the effectiveness of health initiatives and reflect on your own capacity to take action.

Outdoor Education
You will be provided with practical application in the ways humans interact with and relate to outdoor environments. You will explore topics that are covered in VCE Outdoor and Environmental Studies. The coursework will provide opportunities for you to make critically informed decisions on questions of environmental awareness, safe participation strategies, and sustainability, and develop an understanding of the importance of healthy outdoor environments, particularly in a local context. You will be exposed to a variety of practical activities that could include bushwalking, canoeing, mountain bike riding, surfing, snorkelling, marine exploration, archery, rock climbing, as well as conservation and restoration activities.

This study will prepare you for further education or employment in related fields. In Unit 1, you will explore the musculoskeletal and cardiorespiratory systems and their responses to physical activity, evaluating social, cultural, and environmental influences and minimising risks. In Unit 2, you will examine physical activity and sport from a participatory perspective, considering your own and others' health and wellbeing in different population groups.
Physical Education - Units 3&4
VCE Physical Education Unit 3 introduces biomechanical and physiological principles for analysing movement skills and energy production to improve performance. In this subject, you will investigate the interplay of energy systems and explore strategies to postpone fatigue and promote recovery. Unit 4 analyses movement skills from a physiological, psychological, and sociocultural perspective, and applies training principles to improve performance. You will analyse requirements of an activity and design an effective training program, participate in training sessions, and evaluate the effectiveness of different training methods. You will learn to critique the implementation of training principles and evaluate chronic adaptations to training.
Recreation
In this subject, you will explore and participate in a variety of recreational activities with a focus on personal health and wellbeing. The activities will include yoga, bike riding, self-defence, and other similar activities that do not have a strong competitive element. Through this exploration, you will learn about the benefits of recreational activities and how they contribute to individual and societal health. You will also be encouraged to step outside of your comfort zone to challenge yourself and develop new skills. Additionally, you will learn about community-based recreational activities and their role in promoting physical activity and social connection.
Salesian Sports Academy (AFL) - VET Cert III Sport and Recreation
Salesian Sports Academy (AFL): The Salesian AFL Academy is a specialised program for student-athletes who are committed to elevating their football performance while completing recognised VET qualifications. Entry is by application, with selection based on character, coachability and readiness for a high-performance environment. Combining AFL skill development, strength and conditioning, sports science and leadership, students benefit from partnerships with Essendon Football Club and the Calder Cannons, gaining exposure to elite coaching, career pathways and talent identification opportunities. Students will gain nationally recognised qualifications, including VET Certificate III in Sport & Recreation, along with additional certifications in First Aid, Coaching, Umpiring, and Lifeguarding. The program develops well-rounded athletes who demonstrate discipline, leadership and high personal standards both on and off the field.
VET Cert II in Outdoor Recreation - 1 year course
Certificate II in Outdoor Recreation connects students with nature while developing practical skills to assist with operational logistics and delivery of recreational activities in adventure learning centres, camps, and outdoor environments. Through immersive, hands-on experiences, students build capabilities in environmental stewardship, safety management, and fundamental activity techniques under direct supervision. This engaging qualification offers students an exciting program that develops employability skills for roles such as outdoor activity assistant, camp assistant, and equipment maintenance in Australia's expanding outdoor recreation and adventure tourism industries. VET Cert II Sport Coaching
VET Sport Coaching program has been developed with community sport and passionate sporting students in mind. This subject will see you develop a variety of skills and the knowledge to contribute to sport at the community level in assistant coaching or official roles. The program includes practical coaching and officiating experience that will challenge and ultimately build your confidence and decision-making skills. The opportunity also exists for you to improve your own sporting performance by learning about physical conditioning. Opportunities exist for coaching opportunities for younger year levels, within the class and industry fitness experiences.
