Auslan Taster (Australian Sign Language)
How do we communicate with those who are Deaf or hard of hearing when we can't use our voice? In this course, you'll learn to communicate using Auslan (Australian Sign Language). Through hands-on activities and real-life conversations, you'll build practical skills like fingerspelling, everyday vocabulary, and an understanding of Deaf culture. From greetings to grammar, you'll grow confident in using a visual language and engaging respectfully with the Deaf community. This RUAH will be graded and shown on your report. All participants will receive a certificate of participation.

Cricket: Home of the Ashes

Debating
Students will develop their interpersonal and public speaking skills to respond to a given topic and debate against another team. Students participate in the DAV Schools Debating competition held at St Bernard's College where they will debate in teams against other secondary schools in the district. This competition involves 5 rounds of debating throughout the semester (usually once every 5-7 weeks) which is held Monday night at 7 or 8pm. Students who select RUAH: Debating are expected to commit to be available for at least 4 of the 5 debate nights.
Eco-Engineers (Community Service)
Are you passionate about the environment? Would you like to make sustainable products in our amazing STEAM Makerspace? In the Sustainability Meets STEAM course you will have some choice in the kinds of products that you'd like to make. Choose from items such as pens, flowerpots and carabiners all made from upcycled bottle lids; upcycling laser cutter and 3D printer waste into jewellery and homewares; upcycling textile waste into new products. This course is all about thinking outside the box and using modern technologies to upcycle waste into new products and contribute to the circular economy!
First Aid
This subject equips students with fundamental first aid knowledge and practical skills to respond effectively in emergency situations. Through hands-on activities, research, and scenario-based learning, students will develop confidence in assessing risks, providing immediate care, and understanding when to seek professional medical help. While this course does not provide an official first aid certification, it lays a strong foundation for personal and community safety, empowering students to take responsible action in times of need.
First Nations Immersion (Community Service)
During the immersion, students learn about the rich culture of the land directly from its custodians and contribute to community projects chosen and guided by Traditional Owners. Whether they are hiking to sacred sites, throwing a fishing line in the creek, kicking a footy with local kids, or sharing stories around the campfire, the goal is always to facilitate personal connections and allow students to develop a first-hand understanding of the challenges and beauty of modern life in remote Indigenous communities. During the cocurricular program you will be working on: Preparation for the immersion, Learning local language, Regular Zoom calls with members from Red Earth team to learn about the local communities you will visit, Plan for and present indigenous perspectives to the College community, Fundraising for the community project. Heartfelt Helpers (Community Service)
This subject is a combination of three RUAHs - Food Bank, St. Vinnies and Soup Kitchen. You will be at the forefront of local change in our community, completing empowering community service, setting up and working with organisations such as St. Vincent de Paul Society and CareWorks Sunbury. You will manage inventory, organise food drives, provide assistance and organise student-led bake sales. This will help our school to directly address the food insecurity in our local community, develop empathy, teamwork, communication and compassion in ourselves and others. Be the catalyst for positive change and experience the power of initiatives driven by you.

Model UN
M.U.N. is an opportunity to pretend to be a delegate representing a country at a mock United Nations conference. The school will form a team of delegates, each responsible for a particular area of a nation, other than Australia, such as economics, strategic relations, trade, education, welfare and human rights, and will represent that nation at a Model United Nations conference in the various committees and organisations. We will be conducting debates and conferences at the school, as well as attending M.U.N. conferences in Melbourne. If our school team is successful, there is the possibilty of being invited to attend national and international M.U.N. conferences. M.U.N. sessions provide a platform to enhance your public speaking, negotiation, and leadership abilities.

The Production alternates each year between a Musical Theatre production and a College play, offering a dynamic and immersive performance experience.
